Stone carving is an ancient activity where pieces of rough natural stone are shaped by the controlled removal of stone. Owing to the permanence of the material, stone work has survived which was created during the history.

            Work carried out by Old Stone Age societies to create stone tools is more often referred to as knapping. Stone carving that is done to produce lettering is more often referred to as lettering. The process of removing stone from the earth is called mining or quarrying

            The term Stone carving is one of the processes which may be used by an artist when creating a sculpture, statue etc. We can find few artists in Nepal who are the best talent in stone carving due to such as a hard work.

Mr. Dharma Raj Shakya is an Artist of Stone Carving. He declared M.F.A. (Master of Fine Art) in 2013, M.A. in Nepalese History Culture and Archeology in 2000 from and P.G.D. in Buddhism in 2006 from Trivubhan University.

He had worked many places and he had made many stone statue of god and goddess, portrait etc. he exhibited many places by solo performance and participated in different exhibition. He also has many awards from different organizing program.
